Perspective: Sometimes what you don't know can't stop you

Have you ever done something to afterward
say, "If I knew what I knew now, I may not
have done it"?

That has been my experience working with
Dan Pavlik (writer and director of Nominated).

I went up to Fremont to do a radio podcast
of his premiere party, and recorded lots of
hours of interviews, knowing that I would
have to go back later and edit them.

What I didn't realize was how much work it
was going to be, and the obstacles and
difficulties I was going to face.

I may still have done it, had I known, but
I do wonder if it could have even for a moment
have me consider stopping from doing it.

A few days ago I met with Dan and Brian Degan
Scott
in Hollywood. This time with a Flip
camera
in hand. Once again, I jumped into
something I had never done, but figured I
would figure it out.

Hours later, it's 90 minutes condensed into
10. Once again, there were frustrations and
issues...and once again, I wonder, if I had
known what it would entail, might I have
reconsidered.

It seems like sometimes being unaware can be
a good thing. Or perhaps it is more being
aware of the goal, and the thing that matters
that is the important thing.

By focusing on what I want to create, I
created it, even in spite of the difficulties
and frustrations.

I offer the video to you so you can learn
more about the film and these guys, and since
it was filmed in Hollywood, you'll get to see
some of the area, too.

Hollywood, Twitter and Lemonade

A couple of night ago, I met up with Dan Pavlik
(@nominated) and Brian Degan Scott (@bdser)
in Hollywood. It was a lot of fun. If you'd like
to see/hear more about it, and Dan's film
Nominated, see the Nominated Blog.

(Dan Pavlik on Left, Brian Degan Scott on Right)

Some people say that Twitter is a waste of
time. I am not sure I would agree. I met
these two great people because of Twitter,
and am enjoying helping out with the film
where possible. It's likely I would never
have met Dan without connecting through my
time spent there.

Having said that, I bring this up in part
because the meeting is context for this
blog entry. We ate at Hooters. They had
a strawberry lemonade that was out of this
world, and probably because it was full of
sugar, LOL.

(making the important decisions)

So when I got home, I decided to make some of
my own. The following is what I came up with.
It was not as delicious as the Hooter's version,
but it wasn't too bad. Enjoy!

4 cups water
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup lemon juice
1 pint frozen strawberries

Blend the strawberries with enough water to
cover strawberries until liquid, and then
mix in the remaining water, sugar, and lemon
juice. Stir and chill.

*******************UPDATE**********************
I have discovered two things since posting
this recipe:

1. White sugar is better for you than brown
sugar (I have replaced the brown sugar with
organic sugar with good result)

2. I have cut the sugar in half, the strawberries
in half, and added twice the water, and it still
tastes good...maybe even better because it's not
so sweet.
**************************************************

If you want a recipe from someone a little more
well known, and a track record, here's Emeril's

Have a great day!

A Special Thanks!

Today I brought out a new recording called
Peace Within. I asked for help on Twitter,
and several wonderful people tweeted about
it, and because there were so many, I wanted
to give a special thanks.

I am a little nervous with this list, hoping
that I didn't miss anyone. If you RT or
shared about the recording in any shape, way,
or form, and I missed it/you, PLEASE let me
know so I can add you. If you're not here,
I soooo apologize in advance. It's not easy
to scroll down through the many tweets.

I always say every little bit counts. I would
say there were approximately 400 views of the
Peace Within recording page as well as
other associated pages. I certainly don't
think I could have done that alone!

@nominated has a long way to go, and I
believe that with the way things are, there
is plenty need for this recording. Should
you be willing, please keep sharing about it.

To anyone who is reading this...you couldn't
follow, or be followed by, better people.
I think all that I have become acquainted
with are great, and this is just my special
way of thanking these folks for this particular
request on this particular day.

THANK YOU for being a part of my Twitter
world. If there is anything I can ever do
for you...please just say the word!

Press Release: Dan Pavlik on World of Perspective Radio

How Do You Make A Dream Come True? Make A Movie About It.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Elizabeth Alraune

Los Angeles, CA, April 6, 2009

Dan Pavlik, Director, Producer, and Writer of the film Nominated, will be a guest on World-of-Perspective-Radio.com on BlogTalkRadio.com on April 16, 2009 at 6PT/9ET.

Dan has been a professional video producer for 14 years. By most measures, he has had a successful career, and yet he is risking what he has worked for by diving into the shark infested waters of independent film with the idea of a movie that he dreamt about two and a half years ago.

While he will be sharing his story, everyone has a "thing" that they wish they could do, might do, wouldda, shouldda, couldda done. As Dan says, “I may be the director of this film, however, I am also in the role of Director of my own life, just as we all are.” He notes that in the current economy, especially, it is important to see possibilities in spite of closed doors. In the world of film he, as the director, makes choices to make the best film possible, "and the choices I make aren't always advised, popular, and are sometimes risky. There are parallels to how I am in my life." We all have the possibility to direct our own lives, and he will be discussing the risks that he is taking in the context of having a life lived that is true to himself in spite of seeming obstacles.

Elizabeth Alraune, host of World-of-Perspective-Radio.com, welcomes Dan as a guest amidst a line up of other shows from an eclectic group of guests which have included Janet Thornburg (numerologist), Patrick Mathieu (The Bar Code Guy), and Greg Mooers (Life Camp). Ken Newman, who will be in the role of Blake Dunbar in the film also spent some time on the show recently talking about how important humor is EVERY day, and how living for the weekend is like living only 2/7 of your life.

About Nominated

This independent film will be shot in August 2009 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Pavlik is in talks with and/or seeking the talents of Dan Aykroyd, Mariel Hemingway, Willie Ames, Carl Lumbly, Brian Degan Scott, Brian Copeland, and Ken Newman.
